Clubs
Music Theatre
The Dr. Michael Conti PS5 Theater Club offers musical theater to students in grades 4–8, culminating in a live performance. Rehearsals led by Ms. Valentin engage students creatively through singing, acting, set design, and costume making.
Financial Literacy Club

Friday Chess Club
Open to all levels — meet us Fridays year round
- Free for everyone, all skill levels welcome — beginners to advanced
- Fridays year round at the school garden (or nearby if weather is bad)
- We compete in three USCF-rated tournaments in Manhattan each year
- Chess is linked to stronger academic performance — math, focus, and critical thinking
- Chess club purchases sets for every classroom and the afterschool program
- Our goal: make a competitive, screen-free, intellectual activity accessible to the whole school

P.S.5 Garden Club for Grades 6-8 — Wednesdays 3-4PM
- Stem for S.T.E.M
- Grow a vegetable garden
- New Jersey Native Herb Conservatory
- K and pre-K flower kindness garden
- Sustainability and recycle: compost and worm
- Vertical and hydroponic garden
- Bird feeders and save the Monarch butterfly
- Anemometer, rain gauge, thermometer, barometer and wind vane
